A project for creating Nakshatra Vanam began at Bhavan’s Varuna Vidyalaya, Thrikkakara, recently marking the World Environment Day celebrations. T.L Viswanatha Iyer, chairman of the Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan, Kochi, inaugurated the programme by planting a sapling. G.K. Pillai, senior manager, Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan, Sunitha, school principal, and Umadevi, vice-principal, also attended. Eco Club The activities of the Eco Club of the S.B.O.A Public (Sr. Secondary) School were inaugurated recently to mark the World Environment Day celebrations. G. Gopalakrishnan, secretary, OISCA International, Cochin Chapter, inaugurated the activities. Reny Daniel, secretary of the Eco Club, led the students in planting the saplings in the herbal garden of the school. First School Day Mickey Mouse, Teddy Bears and baby elephants welcomed the kindergarten students at Ambadi Ammu Amma Memorial Chinmaya Vidyalaya Kindergarten School, Thripunithura, on their first day to school. This was part of the welcome programme arranged for students. They were also presented with sweets and gifts.
