Club in suspended animation

TIRUCHI: The Tiruchi Rifle Club has been kept in suspended animation by Collector T. Soundiah.

The club, which was instituted in 1987, was earlier declared inactive by the District Registrar for not submitting the annual reports since 1989.

The term of its secretary, Murugan, elected in 2001, ended in November 2003, and elections have not been held since.

Artilleries owned by the club have been kept at the Tiruchi Armed Forces godown. The club records were being examined by the district officials.

Mr. Soundiah, in a press release, said that steps would be taken to revive the club after verification of records.
