KOCHI: K. Chandran Pillai, MP, on Thursday asked journalists to turn ‘adventurous’ while doing reports that expose various social ills in the society. In his address after presenting the Chowara Parameswaran award instituted by the Kerala Press Academy to N.P. Jishar, reporter of Madhyamam daily, Mr. Pillai said that journalists had a responsibility towards the society. They should take the initiative in fulfilling this responsibility using their talents, he said. Mr. Pillai promised full support for implementing developmental projects at the Kerala Press Academy, and asked the Academy representatives to come out with an action plan in this regard. He also agreed to provide financial assistance to the academy after holding discussions at various levels. S.R. Sakthidharan, chairman, Kerala Press Academy, said that the academy would soon introduce a course in e-journalism. He said that the academy also plans to have a video-audio edit suit, as part of stepping up facilities for the students. V.G. Renuka, Regional Deputy Director, Public Relations Department, M. Josephath, secretary, Kerala Press Academy, Antony John, president, Ernakulam Press Club and Mr. Jishar, award winner, spoke.
