Special Correspondent

BANGALORE: To ensure smooth movement of traffic around Bangalore city, the Cabinet has cleared a Rs. 3,000-crore peripheral ring road project which would be developed in the next 30 months.

Addressing presspersons after a Cabinet meeting here on Wednesday, Rural Development and Panchayat Raj Minister Shoba Karandlaje and Home Minister V.S. Acharya said the Bangalore Development Authority (BDA) would take up the road project on public-private partnership.

The project envisages building 116 km length of 100-metre wide four-lane road network around the city.

The Cabinet has administrative approval for the first phase, covering 65 km linking Tumkur Road, Bellary Road, Old Madras Road and Hosur Road.

The peripheral ring road will have two lanes on the two sides and a dedicated bus track.
