Solid waste management project launched

Sangareddy: Pepsi Cola India in collaboration with Exnora and Sangareddy municipality launched its Solid waste management programme here in the Magdoomnagar area on Thursday. The pilot project would cover 12 wards in the municipal area initially which would be extended to other wards over a period of time.

Launching the programme Municipal Chairperson B. Vijayalaxmi said that the project would usher in a new era in the history of the town which hitherto lacked a waste management system and people are used to throwing the garbage everywhere. Pepsi representatives urged the residents to segregate the waste into different categories so that the disposal would be scientific and less harmful to the environment. Organic waste would sent for vermicompost. The project was supported by the Pepsico and Implementation by Exnora. Municipality will provide the space for composting and shed will be constructed by the Exnora and Pepsico.
