IMA’s plea to nursing home owners in A.P.
HYDERABAD: Objecting to some of the clauses in the Private Establishment Registration Act, 2007, the Andhra Pradesh branch of the Indian Medical Association (IMA), has asked its members having nursing homes/clinics and diagnostic centres not to get registered under that statute.
In a press note issued here on Thursday, Bandela Mohan Rao, General Secretary, IMA (A.P. State), described as “highly impracticable” the stipulation that an MBBS doctor practising anywhere in the State must employ two more duty medical officers. Referring to equipment prescribed by the Health Department, he said no MBBS doctor could own ventilator, defibrillator and other “costliest equipment.” The IMA did not have any objection to display the rates of hospital services. A delegation of IMA representatives met Health Minister G. Aruna Kumari and requested her not to be in a hurry for registration of nursing homes/ clinics/ diagnostic centres.
