Thiruvananthapuram
Thiruvananthapuram: A high-level meeting chaired by Public Works Minister Mons Joseph has decided to go in for fast-track land acquisition for the Kozhikode Urban Development Scheme. A special land acquisition unit would be formed for the purpose, Mr. Mons Joseph told mediapersons after the meeting in Thiruvananthapuram on Thursday. The Stadium-Puthiyara, Beach Junction to Old Beypore Road (Konthi Approach), Gandhi Road-Mini Bypass-Kuniyal Kavu-Mavoor Road Junction, Vellimadukunnu-Kovooor, Mananchira-Vellimadukunnu, Francis Road-Pookunnu, Karaparamba-Eranjipalam-Kalluthankadavu and Pananthanathazham were the roads included in the scheme. The funds for the acquisition would be made available this year itself. The meeting also constituted a coordination committee with the District Collector as convener for implementing the scheme in a time- bound manner. Mayor M. Bhaskaran, A. Pradeep Kumar and P.M.A. Salam, MLAs, Executive Engineers of Roads and National Highways, Deputy Collector (Land Acquisition), Deputy Chief Engineer (Kerala Water Authority) and the Corporation Secretary are members of the committee. The meeting was attended by the Ministers for Finance and Industries.
