NEW DELHI: Power Minister A. K. Walia has asked all the three private power distribution companies in the Capital to prepare their Action Plan for Solar Energy Generation Pilot Projects in their respective areas. Talking to mediapersons, the Minister said the discoms had been asked to prepare the Solar Energy Generation Pilot Projects with the aim of augmenting power generation within Delhi and promote non-conventional energy sources. ‘Install appliances’Elaborating on the issue, Dr. Walia said the discoms had been told to generate solar energy by installing appliances on rooftops. He said NDPL would prepare a pilot project for generation of solar energy on the roof of Chhatrasal Stadium, BYPL on the roof of Delhi Secretariat, and BRPL on the roof of the Netaji Subhas Institute of Technology, Dwarka. Moreover, other Delhi Government buildings would also be targeted for the purpose. Dr. Walia said the progress of the ongoing amnesty scheme has been evaluated and it has been decided to extend it further by a month up to July 11. The decision, he said, had been taken in view of the encouraging public response to the scheme. A total of 13,508 cases have been settled so far under the scheme.
