Siddiqui is NCTE chief

NEW DELHI: Mohammad Akhtar Siddiqui on Thursday took over as chairperson of the National Council for Teacher Education (NCTE).
Professor Siddiqui was Dean and Professor Faculty of Education in Jamia Millia Islamia. He acquired his academic qualifications in education and commerce from Jamia Millia Islamia; University of Delhi; Himachal Pradesh University, Shimla, and University of Leeds, U.K.
Professor Siddiqui has 30 years of experience in teaching and research in education and specialises in education of minorities and marginalised groups and educational administration. An eminent scholar and academician, he has worked in important positions in Jamia Millia Islamia as Dean, Faculty of Education and Director, University Grants Commission.
