Shelter for ambulances sought in view of the rainy season EMRI also planning medical camps during epidemic season in areas not covered by its ambulances ADILABAD: The Emergency Management Research Institute’s (EMRI) Adilabad district unit has urged people to make use of the 108 phone number even to register police cases. It has also urged desirous people to join as volunteers. At a press conference here on Thursday EMRI district manager Jayant Kumar Thakur and operations executive Rizwan Hashmi said the ambulance service functioning under the 108 system was operating successfully in the district. However, people will only be able to make use of the facility completely when they also seek help in cases that fall under the purview of police department. Mr. Jayant Thakur also appealed to local philanthropists to consider providing shelter to the 108 ambulances. He said shelters were needed urgently in view of the rainy season. EMRI officials said the service has registered a growth of 14 per cent in the month of May. Three more areas have been identified for the ambulance to be introduced in near future, they said. EMRI was also planning medical camps in this epidemic season in areas that are not covered by the 26 ambulances it has in the district, they added.
