JAIPUR: Rajasthan Rural Development and Panchayati Raj Minister Kalulal Gujjar on Thursday claimed that the Centre had given “top ranking” to the State in implementation of the National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme. The Centre has reportedly given 82.86 marks on a scale of 100 to Rajasthan in an inter-State ranking exercise. Mr. Gujjar said in a statement here that the “momentous progress” of NREGS in the State was the outcome of joint efforts by all stakeholders. “Appointments made to 11,000 posts under NREGS through the Chief Minister’s ‘Sambal Abhiyan’ led to speedy execution of works and ensured success of the flagship scheme,” he said. Mr. Gujjar pointed out that factors such as payment of wages, computerised information network, vigilance and inspection, social audit and regular monitoring of works were taken into account for giving the highest rank to Rajasthan.
