BANGALORE: Sri Jnanakshi Vidyaniketan, Rajarajeshwari Nagar, celebrated its fifth annual-cum-founding day recently. It was the first activity for the academic year and the students were evidently excited. For some, it was the excitement of performing on stage and for others, it was being recognised for their efforts both in curricular as well as co-curricular activities.

The cultural programme included songs, dances and skits presented by students from nursery to class X. Their zestful performance elevated the energy levels of the audience by a few rungs and that surely added to the excitement.

Alok Mohan, Commissioner, Bangalore Metropolitan Task Force, was the chief guest. He said that the teachers play a vital role in shaping the future of students. “They give encouragement, they inspire and they also teach you to dream. In all, teachers help children realise the fullness of human potential,” he said.

He lauded the performance of the students and told them to pursue a career of their choice. Minu Alok Mohan gave away meritorious prizes. Principal C.S. Dwarakanath said the endeavour of the school was to cultivate thoughts of discipline and ethical behaviour in the students thus ensuring all-round development of an individual. Sri Jayendrapuri Swamiji was present.

Prathama Pata

The third Prathama Pata of Rashtrotthana Vidya Kendra, Thanisandra, was held recently. Prathama Pata marks the beginning of the formal learning of a child. The teaching faculty was introduced to the parents. Sadhu Rangarajan, who was a guest, stressed the need for inculcating Indian values in children. M. Rama Jois, retired judge, who presided over the function, emphasised the role of a teacher in inculcating values in children.

Dinesh Hegde, general secretary, Rashtrotthana Parishat, educationists Mudambadithaaya and Vijayalakshmi Deshmane were present.
