Bolarum beats Venkatapuram, enters semifinals

HYDERABAD: Bolarum scored a 2-1 win over Venkatapuram to enter the semifinals of the Sachdev Sports Cup inter-summer coaching centres football tournament at the Trimulgherry ground here on Thursday.

Striker Mohd. Shahbuddin put Bolarum ahead in the first-half. But just before the break, Bharath equalised for the rival. In the second session, Shahbuddin scored with a fine solo effort to clinch the issue for his team.

In another match, Trimulgherry Village ‘A’ recorded a 3-1 win over Kamala Nehru Nagar in a tie-breaker to enter the last-four stage.

The teams were locked goalless at full-time.

In the tie-breaker, John, Kiran and Krishna were the scorers for the winner. Eliavassan was the only one successful for the loser.

Sunder Raj passes away

Former National hockey player, J.V. Sunder Raj, who was also the former assistant secretary of Hyderabad Hockey Association, passed away on Tuesday.

He was a regular member of the Andhra Pradesh team between 1960 and 1970 and also a Grade I umpire.

Hyderabad Hockey Association, at an emergency meeting here under the chairmanship of P. Kantaiah, Secretary, passed a condolence resolution and recalled the contribution Sunder Raj to the sport, who was said to be one of the most stylish centre-forwards of his era.

Harshitha advances

T.L. Harshitha scored an 11-4, 11-4, 11-9 win over Bhavana in the junior girls’ pre-quarterfinals of the GHMC annual table tennis tournament at the Victory Playground indoor hall here.

Tarun Anirudh defeated A. Rahul 7-2 in the boys’ under-12 second round of the fourth Twin Cities mini-junior tennis tournament at the Fateh Maidan Tennis Complex here.

SBH T20 Cup

The third State Bank of Hyderabad Corporate Twenty20 Cup will be organised from June 14 by Dravyansh Corporate Cricket & Sports Organisers.

The event will be played on a league-cum-knock-out format with teams divided into eight pools of five teams each.

The best players from this edition will be picked to represent HUDA Hyderabad Corporate Cricket Elite XI in the inter-City corporate tournament to be held in Indore or Mumbai in September.

Inter-corporate soccer
