Three held for killing Indian

Melbourne: Three people, including a teenager, were arrested and remanded to custody on Thursday for the murder of an Indian storeowner by robbers in south Auckland, New Zealand.

Navtej Singh, 30, hailing from Punjab, died on Monday after battling for life for over 36 hours.

A father of three girls, the eldest being five, Singh, along with his family, moved to New Zealand six years ago, and set up a liquor store three months ago in south Auckland, where the robbers shot him this weekend.

Anitelea Chan Kee, 20, and Tino Faamele Felise, 17, face charges of murder, armed robbery and aggravated robbery in the Manukau District Court. Mefiposeta Chan Kee, 24, has been charged with being an accessory to the crime for disposing of the .22 calibre rifle used to shoot Singh.

The three, arrested overnight, were remanded to custody till August 6 by judge David Harvey. — PTI
