‘None shifted from Aarushi case probe’

CBI spikes day-long speculation, asks media to remain within limits

“Breakthrough likely in a couple of days”

Lawyers on strike, Krishna counsel could not move court

NEW DELHI: Scotching day-long speculation that three officers including one in the rank of Deputy Inspector-General, involved in the Aarushi Talwar-Hemraj murder case investigations, were shifted, the Central Bureau of Investigation on Thursday said, “Nothing can be farther from the truth”.

The agency said, “In fact, the team has been further strengthened and investigations continue in full swing.”

A CBI source said a breakthrough in the case was likely in a couple of days.

Aarushi and domestic help Hemraj were found murdered in their house at Noida, Uttar Pradesh, last month.

Talking to reporters in the evening, CBI Director Vijay Shankar urged the media to remain within their limits. “The case is a challenge for the CBI and investigations are progressing satisfactorily.”

Mr. Shankar said an officer, whose name was doing the rounds in the speculation spree, was one of the finest officers. He had applied for leave a month ago for personal reasons.

Meanwhile, because of the ongoing strike by advocates in Ghaziabad courts, the lawyer for Krishna, compounder of Aarushi’s dentist-father and accused Rajesh Talwar, could not move an application seeking a reply from the CBI why it had kept him in “illegal detention” for so long.

On Wednesday, Krishna’s family alleged that the CBI picked him up on June 3 and kept him in its custody. On Thursday, his relatives and friends staged a demonstration in the capital urging that innocent persons be not framed in the case.

Narco test on Krishna

Bangalore Staff Reporter reports:

In Bangalore, officials of the Forensic Science Laboratory, led by Assistant Director Malini, subjected Krishna to a six-hour narco analysis.

The compounder, who was brought to the Bowring and Lady Curzon Hospital at Shivajinagar around 10 a.m. by CBI sleuths, initially underwent a routine check-up to ascertain his fitness for the narco test.

On Wednesday, the FSL officials did polygraph tests on him at their facility at Madiwala. The CBI officials said narco analysis was done as Krishna’s statements during two polygraph tests were contradictory.

Dr. Malini told journalists that court permission had been obtained for the test. CBI Joint Director Arun Kumar declined to comment on its outcome, saying he was not present.
