Thiruvananthapuram
Thiruvananthapuram: Residents in the Thycaud revenue village will no longer have to go through the tortuous rigmarole involved in accessing details of their landholdings. For them, it is as simple as pressing a few keys on the touch-screen terminal set up at the village office. The technology-assisted village resurvey in Thycaud has resulted in the creation of easy-to-access digital records. The FMB (Field Measurement Book) counter established at the office provides ownership details and sketch of each landholding. Revenue Minister K.P. Rajendran issued the official notification of the resurvey records at a function held at the Survey Directorate here on Thursday. The new land records will be handed over to the village office by the first week of July. Revenue officials involved in the resurvey used Total Stations and Global Positioning System (GPS) equipment to map the village. Digitised sketches were prepared by the National Informatics Centre (NIC) using open software. The public can access the sketches through the touch-screen kiosks set up by the NIC. Each landholder will be provided with a ‘record of right’ to establish ownership. Every land transaction after the resurvey is to be recorded in the village register using digital technology. The Minister inaugurated the new website of the Survey and Land Records Department ( www.dslr.kerala.gov.in).
