Thiruvananthapuram: The State committee of the All India Democratic Women’s Association (AIDWA) has urged the government for legislation to check immoral activities and human trafficking. Addressing presspersons here, AIDWA president T.N. Seema and secretary K.K. Sailaja called for a special police force to crackdown on such rackets and bring the operators to book. They appealed to the Central government for amendments to the Emigration Act and the Immoral Trafficking (Prevention) Act. Ms. Sailaja said the emergence of mafia groups indulging in immoral activities was a matter of concern for Kerala. “Minor girls and women are becoming victims of these rackets. There are also reports of women from Kerala being subjected to untold cruelties in the Gulf after being lured there with the promise of jobs”. The association said such activities were a blot on the State.
