Government to launch eGazette on the Internet

Record growth of 41 per cent in IT exports in State

HYDERABAD: As many as 2,300 Rajiv Citizen Centres (rural eSeva centres) will be established in the State by the Information Technology Department in the next three months.

Chief Minister Y. S. Rajasekhara Reddy gave instructions to this effect to the department while reviewing the functioning of the IT promotion and e-governance in the State on Friday.

Pointing out that these centres were already cleared by the Union government, he said an additional 2,387 centres would be opened in the next six months.

He expressed concern at the delay in establishing these centres.

The meeting was informed that the State would soon have single portal integrating all the departments from July 1. It would be a single gateway for all government information. The portal, www.ap.gov.in, was being developed by Centre for Good Governance and would be functional from July 1.

It was also pointed out that all the government orders would now be available on the same day soon after they were issued. The government is also coming out with eGazette on the Internet shortly.

During the review, officials pointed out that the State had achieved a record growth of 41 per cent in IT exports. The exports rose to Rs. 26,122 crore during 2007-08 in comparison to Rs. 18,852 crore last year.

During the last four years, 675 companies had been registered of which 51 are IT majors, providing employment to 1.53 lakh people. Plans are afoot to recruit 51,550 during the year.

The Kokapet IT special economic zone would house 10 majors and start function from August 15. As regards the Animation and Gaming City, a special purpose vehicle -- Hyderabad Digital Media City -- has been incorporated.
