Congress seeks judicial probe

DAVANGERE: Congress workers, led by Davangere MLA Shyamanur Shivashankarappa, took out a procession here on Friday protesting against the police firing on farmers in Haveri a few days ago in which a farmer was killed. The workers raised slogans against the Bharatiya Janata Party Government.

Mr. Shivashankarappa submitted a memorandum to the Deputy Commissioner, in which he demanded judicial probe into the Haveri firing and a compensation of Rs. 10 lakh to the family of the deceased farmer.

He demanded adequate compensation to those who were injured in Haveri and said that it would be a kind of solace to farmers’ families.
