Media role

The role of the media in a democracy cannot be overemphasised. Many of our leaders have used the media to achieve their laudable, humanitarian goals. In today’s context, the media play a pivotal role in exposing corruption, which paves the way for justice for hapless victims of crimes.

But when this effective tool becomes counterproductive, it really hurts. Spreading rumours for cheap publicity cannot be justified from any point of view. The Aarushi murder case is very sensitive. It is not just a criminal case but also has many emotional aspects to it. It needs to be handled with great care.
