Croatian media hails Bilic ‘masterclass’

ZAGREB: Croatia’s media sang the praises on Friday of its football coach Slaven Bilic for leading his team to “a prodigious victory” over highly fancied opponent Germany in the Euro 2008 finals.

“Beware the Croats!” declared the main banner of the newspaper Vecernji List, alongside a road sign that declared “give way.”

“Croatia dismantled the powerful German machine. We knew that this generation was ready for the philosopher’s stone. Confirmation came yesterday in Klagenfurt,” said the daily. — Agencies
