Hooda promises to allocate Rs.10 lakh each for all the villages in the region

INDRI (KARNAL): Haryana Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda on Friday announced upgradation of Indri tehsil as a sub-division and promised to allocate Rs.10 lakh each for all the 164 villages in the region.

The announcements were made at a “thanksgiving rally” in Indri, 150 km from Delhi. The rally was organised by Congress workers as a gesture of gratitude to the electorate of Indri constituency who voted for the party’s candidate Bhim Sain Mehta in the Haryana Assembly by-election on May 22.

A benchmark

Emphasizing the importance of Mr. Mehta’s victory in the key by-election, Mr. Hooda said: “This election will be a benchmark in the political history of Haryana .…Now the stage is set for the Congress to sweep all the 10 Lok Sabha seats [from Haryana in the next general elections]”. Mr. Hooda attributed the success of his party to right intentions, policies and leadership.

Over 50 political leaders from the region were in attendance at the rally.

PTI adds: The Chief Minister said an analysis of the results of the recent Haryana Assembly by-elections made it amply clear that the Indian National Lok Dal had not been accepted by the people, the Haryana Janhit Congress was a non-starter and the BJP had no existence in the State.

He said an interest waiver scheme involving Rs.830 crore had been launched in the State for the benefit of small and marginal farmers, petty shopkeepers and artisans. The rate of interest on crop loans had also been reduced from 11 per cent to 7 per cent.
