Ambala: The CBI court on Friday accepted a complaint in the recent multi-crore rupee kidney transplant scam to be treated as a charge-sheet. All the accused including Amit Kumar were present in the court. Two of the accused have already been granted interim bail. Their lawyer pleaded that the CBI had filed a complaint under Section 22 of the Indian Penal Code which could not be treated as a charge sheet. He also asked the court to stop further proceedings. Special Magistrate Majid accepted the CBI’s contention that the complaint filed under Section 22 can be treated as the charge sheet. The magistrate also dismissed an application which said the CBI had failed to file the charge sheet even three months after Kumar’s arrest and he is entitled for bail. The court also adjourned another application of the CBI for attaching Kumar’s property and sealing bank accounts in Canada. It fixed June 20 as the next date of hearing. Upender, one of the accused, collapsed in the court during hearing and was shifted to local hospital. Doctors said he has a medical history of diabetes and heart disease. PTI
