Similipal National Park to remain close from tomorrow

Baripada: The authorities of the Similipal National Park on Friday announced closure of the park for the visitors from June 15 in view of the monsoon, official sources said.

The National Park, which included the tiger reserve project, annually remained closed for visitors during the rainy season. The visitors would be again allowed to go inside the park in November.

As the hilly roads become slippery during the monsoon, visitors were restricted to go inside the park during the period, the sources said.

Poachers nabbed

Meanwhile, the Forest Department sleuths have arrested two poachers and seized a country-made gun from their possession when they were about to enter into Similipal national park for hunting animals on Friday, police said.
