Manmohan urged to enhance MSP for paddy

Special Correspondent

BHUBNESWAR: Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik on Friday wrote a letter to Prime Minister Manmohan Singh urging him to enhance the minimum support price (MSP) of common variety of paddy to Rs. 1,000 per quintal.

Observing Union Finance Minister P. Chidambaram’s statement that Orissa had recommended an MSP of Rs. 850 was “factually incorrect”, Mr. Patnaik requested the Prime Minister to increase the price in the interest of the majority of farmers of the State.
