Spurned woman stops man’s marriage

Staff Reporter

CHENNAI: A 26-year-old woman, who was spurned by a man, turned up at his wedding in Saidapet with the police on Friday and prevented him from tying the knot.

P.Vijayakumar (30), residing in Madurantakam, had befriended Revathi, a resident of the same area.

Five-year friendship

They had known each other for five years and Vijayakumar had promised Revathi that he would marry her.

But Vijayakumar’s parents arranged for his alliance with one Arathi.

On Friday, when Vijayakumar and Arathi’s wedding was being conducted at a temple in Saidapet, Revathi arrived from Madurantakam.

She lodged a complaint with the Saidapet police, saying that Vijayakumar had cheated her after promising to marry her.

Revathi arrived at the venue of the wedding with police. The police took Vijayakumar into custody before he could take the marriage vows.

Arrested

Vijayakumar was arrested and remanded to judicial custody.
