Special Correspondent

GURGAON: Ankita Bhambri upset top-seeded Isha Lakhani 6-4, 6-4 in the semifinals of the ITF women’s tennis tournament here on Friday. In the other semifinal, Rushmi Chakravarthi was a class act in the decider that was delayed by a few hours owing to inclement weather, in scripting a 6-3, 3-6, 6-3 victory over qualifier Thuy-Dung Nguyen of Vietnam.

Though Lakhani started well by breaking Bhambri in the first game, the latter clinched the first set by virtue of holding serve in the third game. The other nine games witnessed breaks of serve. Into the second set, Lakhani broke in the fifth game but Bhambri broke back in the eighth and again in the tenth.
