Southern Railway reigns

Chennai: Southern Railway clinched the team championship at the all-India Railway body building championships here on Thursday, accumulating 91 points.

South Eastern Railway came second with 46 points.

South-Central and ICF bagged joint third with 37 points each.

Saravanan hits 118

Saravanan’s 118 propelled First Flight Couriers to a 182 run rout of Hindu RC in The Hindu Trophy here on Friday.

The scores: First Flight Couriers 258 for six in 30 overs (Saravanan 118) bt Hindu R.C 76 in 17.1 overs.

IOB ‘A’ 201 for eight in 30 overs (Amit Pathak 50, ASK Varma 45, Nagini Kumar 42 not out) bt India Cements ‘B’ 145 for six in 30 overs (M.A. Satish 40 not out).

Reserve Bank of India 158 in 26 overs (N. Lokesh 80) bt Freeze India RC 122 in 23 overs (A. Murali 41, B.K. Maruthi five for 25).

United India Insurance 159 for seven in 30 overs (P. Devarajan 44, Mohan Doss four for 18) lost to Elixir Solutions 163 for five in 28.1 overs (Andrew Arulraj 57).

Under-12 cricket tournament

The AVM Rajeswari under-12 cricket tournament for boys will be held at the Avichi School Grounds. Boys born on or before September 1, 1996 are eligible to take part. Contact: Md. Mustafa (9840467864).
