CoD to probe custodial death

BANGALORE: The CoD will investigate the death of Dorairaj while he was in the custody of HAL police on Tuesday.

Deputy Commissioner of Police (South-East) Soumendu Mukherjee told The Hindu that the post-mortem report as well as magistrate’s report would be examined by the agency before recommending any action.

Many cases

Dorairaj (41) a resident of Magadi Road, 8th Cross, who was wanted in several cases, was caught by the public and handed over to the police on Monday at Munne Kolalu in HAL police station limits.

Dorairaj was healthy when he was arrested, but complained of breathlessness on Tuesday morning.

Dorairaj died while he was being taken to a private hospital.

According to the police, cases of burglary, house break-in and theft had been registered against Dorairaj in Ulsoor, HAL, Ramamurthynagar, Banaswadi, City Market, Cottonpet, Hebbagodi, Girinagar, R.T. Nagar and Madiwala police station limits, and he had come out on bail only a month ago.
