Thiruvananthapuram: The Indian National Trade Union Congress (INTUC) has registered its opposition to certain “anti-labour provisions” relating to Central government employees and industrial workers in the Sixth Pay Commission report. It has demanded the appointment of a high-power committee to examine these provisions. A working committee meeting of the INTUC in Pune recently opposed the moves of the government and public sector undertakings to institute contract system. The contract system was a new trend that has emerged in the context of global economic policies, but applying them to the public sector could not be justified, INTUC working committee member Palode Ravi said. The INTUC also wanted the government to do away with the bonus ceiling, besides increasing the bonus in proportion to the profits earned by organisations. All representatives from Kerala, including P.J. Joy, participated in the Pune meeting, Mr. Ravi said.
