Raja, Sivananda enter semifinals

Sivakasi: R.S. Raja (SDAT-C), Sivananda Seshadhiri (LTTA), S. Prasanna (PSBB) and Subhas (SRSA) entered the youth boys semifinals in the Sri Kaliswari Colege Tamil Nadu State Ranking table tennis tournament at A.J. indoor stadium, Sivakasi on Saturday. Incidentally all the above qualified for the men’s semifinals on Friday.

Century by Rafique

A century by Rafique (104) and an all-round performance by Parthiban (93 runs and four for 27) helped Oxford Cricket Club defeat KKRC by 139 runs in the Canara Bank-Madurai DCA second division league at Madurai on Saturday.

The scores: Oxford CC 264 for three in 50 overs (Rafique 104, Parthiban 93, Selva 40) bt KKRC 125 in 30.4 overs (Parthiban four for 27); Spark Colts 177 in 38.1 overs bt Pykara Star CC 121 in 35.4 overs; MC HSS 196 for nine in 30 overs (Sivakumar 67, Arjun 40) bt Majestic Toddlers CC 140 in 26 overs (Balasubramaniam four for 21).

American College wins

American College HSS lifted the Latha Madhavan Polytechnic College Founder’s day Trophy defeating TVS HSS 4-0 in the final of the District-level schools football tournament at the college ground, Kidaripatti near Madurai on Saturday.

Sunder scored three goals and Srinivasan netted one.

Earlier in the semifinals, American College beat St. Mary’s HSS 1-0 and TVS HSS beat host Latha Mathavan Polytechnic College 3-0 via tie breaker, after the teams were locked goalless at the end of regulation time.
