New Delhi: Long distance runner Rajam Simon on Saturday won the women’s 1500m silver medal in the Asian Junior athletics championship at the Madhya Stadium in Jakarta. Simon clocked a timing of 4:29.18 seconds to secure the silver. The gold in the event went to China’s Fang Liu with a timing of 4:28.50 and Kyrgyzstan’s Victoria Paludina secured the bronze clocking 4:31.45. Earlier, Savita Dhankar opened India’s account, securing the silver medal in the 3000m and then Jasdeep Singh followed it up with a bronze in the shot put event on Friday. — PTI
