‘Ensure supply of fertilizers’

Staff Correspondent

BIDAR: Chief Minister B. S. Yeddyurappa on Saturday asked the district administration to ensure that seeds and fertilizers were supplied to farmers so that the sowing could be conducted smoothly.

The Chief Minister was addressing a gathering at Basavakalayan taluk.

Memorandum

A memorandum was submitted to Mr. Yeddyurappa by farmer leaders led by honorary State president of the Karnataka Rajya Raitha Sangha Basaavraj Tambake.

The memorandum asked the Chief Minister to convene a meeting of farmers’ representatives before the budget session for a detailed discussion on problems confronting farmers in the State.

Welcomed

The memorandum welcomed the decision of the State Government not to open fire on agitating farmers.

Mr. Yeddyurppa told the leaders that he had apprised the Prime Minister, Manmohan Singh, about the prevailing fertilizer shortage in the State.
