Court building opened in Belur

Staff Correspondent

HASSAN: Karnataka High Court Judge K. Bhaktavatsala, while inaugurating the Civil Judge (Senior Division) and Junior Magistrate First Class Court building in Belur on Saturday, said the building was four km from Belur and would cause inconvenience to the people. But this was better than travelling to Hassan, which was 40 km away, he said and appealed to the Government to release more funds so that infrastructure could be provided to the courts.

The former Minister H.D. Revanna said that in Hassan a district court building was coming up on a five-acre plot near Chennapatna tank.

Rudresh Gowda, MLA, said that behind the taluk office in Belur, two acres of land was available and, if the High Court agreed, a court building could be constructed there. He expressed regret that both Belur and Alur taluks had been hitherto neglected.
