Good beginning: N. Palanisamy and N. Chandran of Eastman Exports presenting the photograph of the school building to Tirupur Corporation Commissioner M. Ashokan marking the inauguration of classrooms at Jaivabai Corporation Girls HSS on Friday. TIRUPUR: The Eastman Exports Group, which crossed a turnover of Rs.850 crore, on Friday dedicated a school block constructed by it at Rs. 85 lakh to Jaivabai Corporation Girls Higher Secondary School here. Its Chairman N. Palanisamy and Managing Director N. Chandran handed over the documents of the building, named after their father P. Nachimuthu Gounder, to Tirupur Commissioner M. Ashokan in the presence of School Education Minister Thangam Thennarasu, Highways Minister M.P. Saminathan and Mayor K. Selvaraj. Lauding the effort of Eastman Group, Mr. Thennarasu said that their gesture would find a place in the history of the school, which catered to the education needs of 8,000 students, mostly the wards of hosiery workers. The Minister said that women’s education was crucial for the development of any society. Tamil Nadu Government was taking earnest efforts to improve the literacy level of women. He also said that the Government would take steps to appoint adequate teachers in the Government schools. Coimbatore M.P. K. Subbarayan and Tirupur MLA C. Govindasamy offered felicitations.
