NARASARAOPET (GUNTUR): Former Minister Kodela Siva Prasada Rao called off the four-day protest on Saturday evening after a day of dramatic developments. This followed a request from TDP polit bureau member and Rajya Sabha member Nandamuri Harikrishna, who reached here as an emissary of party president N. Chandrababu Naidu, to call off the sit-in protest against the State government. Mr. Harikrishna, who reached the town in the evening, launched a fiery attack on the district police for registering a case against the senior leader based on a “frivolous” complaint backed by the local Congress leaders. He said the countdown for the Congress-led government has begun. Earlier in the day, tense situation prevailed when Mr. Kodela and supporters, stormed the Town police station and had an argument with the police after the latter fined a tractor driver. Charging the police of intimidation to scare away his supporters, he launched a vitriolic diatribe against the DSP for framing charges against him.
