Farm activities to be modernised
Staff Reporter
DINDIGUL: Gandhigram Trust, joining hands with M.S. Swaminathan Research Foundation, plans to modernise rural economic and farm activities by introducing information technology to the community and through knowledge transfer.
It would provide all information on government schemes and innovative technologies around the trust, using information technology and Village Knowledge Centres, which has trained staff by MSSRF.
All information and knowledge would be provided to the select 10 villages. A management committee would be formed to strengthen these activities.
To begin with, Panjampatti, Pillayarnatham and Perumalkovilpatti would be strengthened by providing all information such as weather forecasting and crop pattern.
Dissemination of information is the main aim of the project, said K. Shivakumar, trust’s associate secretary.
The MSSRF Coordinator, R. Rajkumar, said a soil testing mobile van would be sent to these villages.
