Prathyasha will be honouring the people who have chosen differently-abled persons as their life partners. KOCHI: This is the seventh time that Prathyasha Foundation, a charitable institution for the welfare of the differently-abled, will be holding a get-together for them to find a partner. With support from the State Social Welfare Department, the meeting will be held at the Town Hall here on June 18 from 10 a.m. onwards. “Every person has a dream of getting a life partner. When many people find it difficult to find a life mate, it is extremely different for the differently-abled,” said Simon George, managing trustee and chairman of Prathyasha. Such get-togethers were started with such an aim, he said. It has helped many differently-abled to find a match, he said. In fact, the get-together is open not just for the differently-abled people but for others as well. And it is open for people from any part of the globe too, he added. Prathyasha will be honouring the people who have chosen differently-abled persons as their life partners and also the differently-abled couples who are into their 25th year of marriage. There are many charitable organisations who are working for the welfare of the differently-abled, providing them tools for their daily use or organising an event for them etc, but few take up the onus of providing them a platform for meeting a life partner, Mr. George said. A seminar on the occasion will be to give an orientation to the differently-abled persons on family life. For those seeking counselling on various matters will also be able to find an expert at the venue. A counsellor will be able to provide tips for all the problems that the differently-abled may raise, said Mr. George. At the function, Prathyasha will be providing the Social Welfare Department a study on the rehabilitation activities needed for the differently-abled in the State. It would also be a venue for the differently-abled to find opportunities towards self-employment, education and medical treatment, according to the organisers. There will also be provision for legal aid to be given to the differently-abled who are facing problems in family, society or at work place. More details about the get-together can be obtained by calling up the organisation at 0484-2536314; 3049142 or writing to info@prathyashafoundation.org .
