Kakinada: Mayor K Saroja accused municipal commissioner A Sivakoti Prasad of keeping her in the dark about important decisions that require her ascent and decided to lodge a complaint against him with the Commissioner and Director of Municipal Administration (C&DMA) and Principal Secretary of that department. She cited her belonging to the BC as the reason for her harassment and said she would register her protest with Chief Minister. Addressing a press conference n Sunday, Mrs. Saroja said the municipal commissioner had ignored her authority by recommending the appointment of one out of five applicants to the post of municipal standing counsel, purportedly without seeking her consent. Added to this was the sending back of a letter wherein the mayor sought clarification whether the commissioner was empowered to do so. Mrs. Saroja had written to the municipal commissioner on June 11, seeking explanation why he did not bring to her notice proposals to construct a road-over-bridge at Achyutapuram and to supply LPG through pipes from K-G basin to houses in Kakinada. The commissioner replied it was an inadvertent mistake, for which he reportedly sought apology. MLA Mutha Gopalakrishna alleged that the council had either deliberately set aside the subjects or got the meeting itself postponed on flimsy grounds. These charges have been termed by the Mayor a part of the false propaganda.
