ADILABAD: TDP spokesman S. Venugopalachary on Sunday warned the government that an agitation would be launched in case the shortage of fertilizers and seeds continued in Adilabad district. He wanted the government to rush enough stocks of DAP, other complex fertilizers and soyabean and Bt cotton seeds to the district. Addressing a press conference Mr. Venugopalachary criticised the government for delay in advance of crop loans to farmers. He said though the government proclaimed itself as a pro farmer , it failed to advance fresh crop loans or issue loan waiver guidelines in time. Talking about crop loans, the TDP leader said the government had failed to disburse even the Rs. 75 crore planned as crop loans last season. He said going by the present state of things, this year too the government would fail in disbursing the entire amount as crop loans according to the action plan. Mr. Venugopalachary also criticised the government for the problems being faced by students in admissions to the IIIT at Basar and other two centres in the State. The TDP leader said the admissions were being done without any clear guidelines.
