Ex-party Member of Parliament Vanga Geeta reportedly planning to quit TDP Exit of a few individuals will not affect us, says Telugu Desam chief VISAKHAPATNAM: Telugu Desam president and former Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu on Sunday said the floating of a political party by megastar Chiranjeevi would not have any impact on his party. He was replying to a question on the resignation of former MLA Thota Trimurtilu and former party MP Vanga Geeta reportedly planning to quit party. “The exit of a few individuals will not affect us. Several people are joining our party and there is no truth in the reports that the exit of a few leaders will mar our winning prospects in general elections due in 2009,” he told reporters before undertaking his ‘Mee Kosam’ yatra at Sabbavaram near here. The TDP supremo said the desertion of a few leaders was not a matter of concern for the party leadership. He also scoffed at reports that Leader of Opposition in Legislative Council Dadi Veerabhadra Rao was sulking because of denial of permission by his security to meet him saying “as the Leader of Opposition, he is at liberty to meet me anytime”. During ‘Mee Kosam’, which entered 56th day on Sunday, Mr. Naidu held roadshows at Sabbavaram, Penagada, Ramapuram and Pendurthy. After addressing a meeting at Sabbavaram, he stopped his convoy on the highway and interacted with lorry drivers and promised to launch social security measures for them if his party was voted back to power. CorruptionLaunching a scathing attack on the Congress, he said corruption was rampant and the people were vexed with the failure of the government in checking price rise. To a question, he exuded confidence that Telugu Desam would get a thumping majority in the Assembly elections and declared that they would give minimum support price of Rs. 1,000 to paddy farmers and review allotment of lands to Special Economic Zones. VW controversyThe TDP chief said the Volkswagen AG had gone back on its proposal to set up a Greenfield car factory here due to corrupt practices followed by Chief Minister Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy.
