TIRUPATI: An Airbus 320 belonging to ‘Indian’ with 144 passengers bound for New Delhi via Hyderabad had to be grounded in the last minute following a technical snag here on Sunday. Sources said that even as the engines of the aircraft whirred in full throttle on the tarmac there was an ‘explosive noise’ which forced the pilots to cut off the engines and abort the take-off. Film actress and State women’s wing leader of the Telugu Desam Party Roja, who was on board the aircraft said, “I heard a deafening sound, like something exploding and I saw through the window people running in panic on the tarmac. Officials of ‘Indian’ later told us that it was only a small snag which could be fixed in ten minutes. But after more than an hour they brought another aircraft from Chennai and sent all of us in that to Hyderabad,” she said. Among others on board the aircraft were TTD Trust Board Chairman B. Karunakar Reddy and the newly-elected TDP Member of Parliament from Warrangal, Yerrabelli Dayakar Rao. No word from ‘Indian’No official could be reached for comment on the incident as their landlines and mobile phones either remained switched off or constantly engaged.
