South African channel drops Indian lifestyle programme
Durban: A local Indian lifestyle programme has been pulled off the air from a popular television channel in South Africa for not meeting broadcasting standards.
The SABC television group said the programme was withdrawn from its SABC3 channel after receiving several complaints from the production crew that they had not received payment for the past two months.
A South African Broadcasting Corporation spokesman told The Times newspaper that a probe was under way into the allegation of the crew of the programme called ’D’fusion.’ The series is produced by Johannesburg-based Ebrahim Patel of AfroElectro Film.
A crew member said it was sad that a show aimed at the Indian market was withdrawn due to financial pressures. — PTI
