BERHAMPUR: A youth of the city lost his money as well as life at the hands of some agents of a private finance organisation. On Sunday morning police recovered the body of a youth Bapuni Tripathy from the Dakhinpur reservoir on the outskirts of the city. On Saturday night Santosh Moaharana, a friend of Bapuni had been rescued from the reservoir by the nearby villagers. Both of them had been pushed into the deep reservoir on Saturday night by three persons who acted as agents of a finance company that provided loans for vehicles and other household goods. Two of the assailants, L.Sekhar Reddy and William Sahu have been arrested by the police. But the main culprit behind the murder, Susant Swain is still absconding. Bapuni and Santosh were residents of Jagannath Vihar area of the city. They had come in contact with Susant to get financial assistance from the private finance organisation represented by him. Susant had collected around Rs.46,000 from them, says Santosh. But they had not received their bikes. Irked by it they pressed upon Susant to return back their money. On Saturday night Susant called up Bapuni and Santosh to the deserted Dakhinpur reservoir to have a few drinks and take back their money. At a lonely bank of the reservoir, Susant awaited for the duo along with Shekhar and William. After making Bapuni and Santosh totally intoxicated by liquor, they pushed them into the reservoir. Santosh managed to grab the root of a banyan tree to survive and call for help. But Bapuni got drowned.
