BANGALORE: Kushal Tallam emerged the champion of the city finals of Paddlepop Gaming League held here at St. John’s Auditorium on Sunday. The new generation competition attracted nearly 6,000 children from the city who participated online and the top 100 players were selected for the city finals. The finalists battled it out on “EA Cricket 07,” a cricket simulation game, and the interactive experience was both fun and exciting. The choices and consequences resembled real life situations and the players had to make quick decisions. There were three rounds in the city finals and 20 top scorers vied for the crown. In the first round, the new generation “Dhonis”, “Tendulkars” and “Virus” scored at a brisk pace and their average seemed to be better than of an Afridi’s or a Jayasuriya’s. In the final round, all players were equal and had an equal chance to win. But in the end, Kushal Tallam was crowned the Bangalore Paddlepop Gaming League champion. He won a gaming console among other prizes. Chandan P. was the first runner-up, while Abhijit G. came third. The competition will now move to Hyderabad, Chennai and Kolkata and it will also be held in Mumbai and New Delhi. The competition is organised in association with Zapak Kids, while The Hindu-Young World is the media partner.
