The party wants water tariff hike to be withdrawn MANGALORE: The Congress will stage a protest in front of Mangalore City Corporation at Lalbagh here on Monday against the hike in water tariff and the corporation’s move to implement self-assessment scheme for property tax. Suresh Ballal, president of Mangalore North Block Congress Committee, said in a press release here that the hike in water tariff had affected many consumers. He urged the corporation to withdraw the hike. Meanwhile, the district unit of Janata Dal (United), which has opposed the corporation’s decisions, said that instead of hiking the water tariff the corporation should plug its unnecessary expenses. In a press release, its vice-president Jayananda Shetty said that the party was also against the implementation of SAS.. .
