VISAKHAPATNAM: The bids received for 406 IMFL shops in the district will be opened amid tight security on Monday. In all, 1,966 sealed bids were received for the shops located in various parts of the district. The deadline for submission of bids ended on Saturday. The bid covers will be opened at Swarnabharati indoor stadium. The District Collector, who is the designated authority, will be present. Interestingly, 10 women have applied for IMFL licences. The successful bidders will be given licence for two years with effect from July 1. Notification for allotment of licences for bars will be issued soon as the existing licence-holders have validity till June 30. The excise officials are expecting a quantum jump in their collections from licence fees. The upset price for shops was enhanced by 15 per cent this time. The revenue target for the officials has also been set in such a way that in urban localities the growth rate will be around 20 per cent. An excise official said bids would be cancelled if the quoted amount were not as per their expectation.
