PUDUCHERRY: Students of St. Patrick School bagged a number of State ranks in the entrance examination conducted by Jawaharlal Institute of Postgraduate Medical Education and Research. C. Vignesh secured the State first rank, while Dayaguruvasan bagged the State third rank and Anahita Kate secured State sixth rank. Another student M. Kavitha obtained the 15th rank. In the nationwide short story and non-fiction writing competition, Janis Maria Fredrick of Standard IX bagged the 12th place and won the “Scholastic Writing Award 2008” in non-fiction writing on the topic “Dr. A.P.J. Abdul Kalam — A Hero for Today’s India.” The competition was organised by Scholastic India Private Limited. The Union Ministry of Communication and Information Technology and the Department of Posts conducted a design a stamp contest for school students. In this, D. Marie Samson, a Class V student won the first prize of Rs. 500, while A. Adhavan of Class IX received the second prize of Rs. 300. Another student, Sharon Monisha Rajkumar of Class XII obtained the third prize of Rs. 200. At the drawing competition organised by the Sacred Heart Jesus Church, Maria Patrick Kingsley of Standard VII won the first prize, a release said.
