Cash stolen from lorry
CHENGAM: About Rs.5 lakh has been stolen from a lorry carrying petrol at Kariamangalam near Chengam on Sunday night.
Police said that the lorry from Chennai with 10,000 litres of petrol had reached Hosur for supply at one of the petrol bunks. After the supply, the petrol bunk owner had handed over Rs.5 lakh in cash to the lorry driver. On their way to Villupuram, the lorry driver, cleaner and cashier got down to have their dinner at a roadside hotel at Kariamangalam near Chengam.
After having the dinner the lorry driver found out that the cash box had been broken and cash missing. The Chengam town police have registered a case. — Staff Reporter
