For cultivation: Kalingarayan canal was opened on Monday evening for irrigation. — ERODE: Kalingarayan Canal was opened on Monday evening for irrigation. Water will flow for the next five months till November 15. Thereafter the PWD’s Water Resource Organisation will approach the State Government for a fresh government order for further release. The president of the Kalingarayan Farmers’ Association V. M. Velayudham says the water will help the standing crops, sugarcane and banana. He says that turmeric and paddy will be soon cultivated.
